It's 2009!
Wow, it has been awhile since I have updated my blog on the Chevy restoration. In 2007, I purchased a 1939 Cadillac-LaSalle Opera Coupe! After 3-4 months tinkering with it, I got it running. However, she leaks a lot of water and I have to rebuild the water bump and get the radiator fixed. Until I do this, the '47 Chevy will sit in the back burner. Once I get back into the '47 Chevy Fleetline, i am going to continue work on the frame. After a friend looked at my work, he made some suggestions to the rear suspension. After this is updated, then I will move forward with the front suspension. I am still going with the Mustang II IFS option. I like the disc brakes and the rack-and-pinion. I had been contemplating going with a 235cui straight six engine because I wanted the "rap" that the straight six produces. But, lately, I have been itching to stay with the original plan of going with the V8 Vortec motor for performance, A/C, and ease of cruise on the freeway. The Chevy isn't going to be original anymore and I have learned that I could have kept the OG front suspension but this isn't going to be my last project. I have learned that I like that "original" look - engine, suspension, inside, and outside. Until then, I'll post images of my work thus far. More to come!
